Mount Oldonyo Lengai climbing - Detailed Overview
The
Maasai word “Oldoinyo Le Ngai” (literally, “Mountain of God”) means this. The
only active volcano in East Africa is this peak. Since 1883, there has been
volcanic activity on the peak, and it is still active today. Amounting to about
9442 feet in height, the Oldoinyo Le Ngai Mountain. The Ngorongoro Conservation
Area includes the Crater Highlands. In this reserve, the local populations
coexist with the wildlife. The Great Rift Valley in Northern Tanzania is
bordered by a number of volcanoes, some of which are still active. Because of
this, they are more than Merely the Ngorongoro Crater, which has a variety of
spectacular peaks, steep escarpments, crater lakes, lush forests, grassy hills,
streams, and waterfalls. The Ol-Doinyo-Lengai (2878m) volcano is even active!
Several Maasai have lived there for hundreds of years, grazing cattle on the
grasslands. The majority of walking occurs at about 3000 meters. The
adventurous do have a lot of options, though.

Arrival. Pick up at Kilimanjaro Airport and drive to
Moshi/ Arusha. Overnight stay at your hotel with bed and breakfast included
Our driver and Chef will pick you at your hotel and drive
to Oldoinyo Lengai 4-5 hours. On the way to Oldoinyo Lengai you will pass to
Mto wa Mbu driving in Great eastern rift valley. See wild animals on the way
together with Masai tribe. Hopefully you will arrive afternoon at Oldoinyo
Lengai Mountain. There are beautiful public camps around the area of Oldoinyo
Lengai. Get picnic lunch at the camp. After lunch you can have shower and after
shower take evening walk to the waterfalls and see Masai villages in the Area.
Overnight stay at your camp of your choice for dinner and overnight stay full
board basis.
Midnight after refreshing tea with cookies our driver will drive you to the base of the mountain. This is where your climbing adventure starts. This mountain has elevation of 2,962m, situated south of Lake Natron and East side Ngorongoro crater. Walking with your guide slowly, the climb is challenging and difficult to the summit. Oldoinyo Lengai is Masai word which means mountain of God. This is volcanic mountain and produces natrocarbonatite lava. The climb takes about 6-7 hours. After arriving at the summit, take pictures for about 20-30 minutes. After taking amazing pictures, walk down to the base of the mountain 3-4 hours. Meet our jeep and transfer to the camp to relax and lunch. Overnight stay at public campsite full board basis.
Morning after breakfast walk to Lake Natron. Lake Natron
is salt lake famous for Flamingos breeding. You will see wonderful adventure
you never see before. Afternoon come to the camp for hot lunch. After lunch
drive to Arusha 4-5 hours. This is where your adventure ends. Overnight stay at
your hotel with bed and breakfast included.
