Walk through the rainforest to the Mandara hut located at
9,000 ft / 2,740 m. A side trip to Maundi Crater is a good way to see the atmosphere
of the Northern part of Tanzania. Also you will have your lunch at this point.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Moshi
/Arusha drive to Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut.
After breakfast at your hotel, you will meet your
guide, drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (about 1 hour), register,
and commence the climb. Walk through the rainforest to the Mandara encampment.
A side trip to Maundi Crater is a good way to see the surroundings including
Kibo peak, Mawenzi peak, Northern Tanzania and Kenya. In the rainforest, look
for towering Eucalyptus trees, bird life, zones, flowers, and Colobus monkeys.
After lunch, hike back to the park gate and drive back
to Moshi.
